olivia toriumi's bio

Olivia Toriumi is an artist living in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is currently finishing up her schooling at Butler University, where she will graduate with degrees in both Art + Design and Marketing.

Her passion for art has grown wildly during her time at Butler University. During high school and her first year at Butler she was more interested in other art forms such as music and theater. It was during her sophomore year when she realized that art was her true creative outlet. She slowly transitioned into the art world through photography, painting, and drawing, and continued to grow into her own as an artist. It wasn’t until recently when her love for art flourished even more as she found her artistic calling: relational art.

Her first relational piece, Words I Wish I Said, was featured in ART NOW, a Butler University student showcase. The goal of this interactive piece was to release the words that have been held inside by writing them out and putting those words on display for all to see. The intention was that by finally relinquishing these words, participants would be freed to let go of the past.

Since Words I Wish I Said, Olivia has dove headfirst into relational art, including her new venture, the P.O. Project. She cannot wait to see where else this passion will take her as she begins life after college.
